A working holiday for Grandma and Grandpa

A working holiday for Grandma and Grandpa

Grandma and Grandpa meet Leah for the first time
Leah Laurie Naomi and Bill meet

Welcome to Hotel Kaptein. The perfect relaxing holiday get-away. Amenities include a semi-private room – private unless you have a 1-month old roommate every few days. Then you can have a relaxing night, waking only twice at 2 am and 6 am for diapers and feedings. You are welcome to unlimited use of the laundry and dining facilities – so unlimited you can get to pleasure of doing all the household laundry and shopping if it suits you.

Its hard work being a Grandpa
Grandpa and Granddaughter

This is how every new grandparent envisions for visiting their new grandchild, right? Grandma and Grandpa are here visiting Rob and I and baby Leah for almost a month. They have been giving Leah lots of expert Grandma and Grandpa cuddles. Grandma Naomi also leapt right in with diaper changes, midnight feedings and endless loads of baby laundry. Grandpa Bill is chief cook and bottle washer, in charge of washing and preparing nightly bottles. He did his single obligatory diaper change, then decided a grandpa’s place is in the kitchen not the changing table.

Cant you go any faster Grandma?

We did release them from service on a few days for some touring of the local sites. We have been to historical parks, museums and flower gardens. These will be the subject of another blog or two. Its time for me to see if Grandma and Grandpa are still earning their room and board.

Welcome to the world Leah!

Hi Everyone,

Welcome back to my blog page after a hiatus. This time I promise to keep up more regularly, with weekly updates. And why have I not updated my blog in so long?

Look what the stork brought in

A. The dog ate my blog
B. Rob and I got caught in a time-warp continuum (for those star-trek fans)
C. We had a new baby

Welcome to the world Leah!

For those that answered C, Yes, give yourselves a gold star! Our beautiful daughter Leah was born on March 25th in our local hospital in Beverwijk. She has been a constant delight and definite learning experience for her new parents over the last month! Here are a few pictures of her to start out the blog again.

I promise in short order to write about: Leah’s birth, my parents visit from the US, all the new stories, and the backlog of stories of what happened over the last half-year.

For a preview of coming attractions, here are slide shows of:
