Family weekend at home and beach

THe last 2 weekends have been pretty quiet and relaxing for us here. We have had some beautiful weather, nice and warm but not too hot. Rob rigged up a little swing in our shed door for Leah to try - she loves it!

Leah and papa in the waves

We took Leah to the beach last week. She had fun feeling the waves on her legs, and playing in the sand with her new shovel.

Leah also went to the 4th birthday party of our neighbor. Leah is play-friends with the 1 1/2 year old sister of the birthday boy. There were a few little girls of 1-2 years old. THey all sat next to each other, babbled and toddled around each other. We went to a local slide, where Leah had fun climbing and sliding down (with a little help from mama).

My good friend Sarah from LA came to visit us for 2 fun-filled weeks! This is Sarah's second trip out to visit us, but her first staying in Rob's home town of Heemskerk (muuuuch prettier than Dordrecht!).

Brussels, the Atonium

Sarah at the Brussels Arch de Triumph

Sarah settled in quickly, amazingly getting over her jet lag in just a day or 2. She got along wonderfully with her "little buddy". Auntie Sarah played with, fed and very importantly gave wardrobe advice to Leah. And of course we caught up on all the stories in each others lives (we were almost caught up by the end of the trip, but not quite..., so many things to share)

Mannikin Pis, the famous Brussels statue

Sarah saw some of the local sights with Rob, I and Leah. Rob showed us his college town Haarlem. Sarah and I saw the 300 year old factory where Delft pottery is made (in Delft of course!). Sarah and I also went for 3 days to Brugge and Brussels in Amsterdam. We saw the famous statue the "mannikin pis", and took in all the other sights.

It was a very fun trip - we cant wait to host Sarah again!
